Mosab Abushama is a Sudanese photographer and filmmaker whose work explores themes of cultural memory, conflict, and resilience. Currently pursuing his graduate studies at the School of Visual Arts in New York, he has developed a distinctive narrative style that blends photography and cinema. His artistic vision is shaped by the war and ongoing social unrest in Sudan. Abushama began by using his mobile phone to document both the quiet beauty of everyday life and the brutal realities of conflict, creating a visual archive of his country’s collective memory. His long-term project Tadween has gained international recognition for its intimate portrayal of life under the shadow of war. Abushama’s work has been honored by leading institutions such as the Magnum Foundation, Prince Claus Fund, and the 2025 World Press Photo Awards.
